GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES
Date: October 19, 2016
Call to Order: Time: 10:00 a.m.
Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches
Welcome Statement:
Jo Clark, President, welcomed all. Guests were
recognized. The meeting room was terrific with lots of room and good light.
Our hostesses were thanked for providing the refreshments and making the
coffee.
Please remember to bring plants each month for the plant exchange.
Numbers will be given in the order the plants were received and numbers will be
called to select the plant of your choice. Please respect the order.
Jo introduced the board members and recognized them for serving.
Nancy McClelland, Publicity Chairman, will be sending notice of meetings and other events to 6 publications.
Pat Gilliland and Kay Broderick will be co-chairs of the
Trip Committee.
The annual Christmas Plant Sale on December 11 will be co-
chaired by Nancy McClelland and Mary Faith Nicholas with lots of help from
Barbara Nelson.
Judith Zaccaria is handling membership and also our website
and facebook page. A BIG thank you to Judith!
Committee Reports:
Secretary / Minutes:
The minutes for the September general meeting were approved. The minutes will now be posted on our website each month.
Treasurer Report:
The current balance is $4,136.98.
Membership:
Judith reports 75 active members. If you have not paid your dues, you are not counted in the membership.
Old Business:
Please remember to show respect and consideration of the speaker. Raise hands
for questions and please do not have side conversations as this prevents others
from hearing and is distracting.
New Business:
The Christmas party will be a catered luncheon on Wednesday, December 7, at
the Sheriffs Youth Ranch rec hall. Free to members, however, guests will be
charged $5 and there is a no alcohol policy at the Youth Ranch. Please sign up as soon as possible. Sign up deadline is the November meeting.
The Safety Harbor Plant Sale on Main Street will be Sunday, December 11. We
need volunteers if we are going to do this! We should all be propagating plants
now. Sandy Huff has offered her home for work days and storage of plants.
PLEASE COME TO SANDY’s on FRIDAY, DEC. 9 WITH YOUR PLANTS TO TAG AND PRICE PLANTS AND THEN ON SATURDAY, DEC. 10 TO ORGANIZE AND LOAD.
Bring gloves and water to drink.
Our November meeting will be November 16. The topic will be birds and
butterflies in the garden.
Our October speaker topic was“Creating Soil out of Nothing.” by Jonathon
