HARBOR GARDEN CLUB
                                                Membership Meeting
                                                     June 19, 2019


The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m.
Sharen thanked Jennifer for setting up the hospitality tables.
Jo Clark introduced the four new members – Robin, Tom, Betsy and Barbara.
John Hood, Vice President of The Friends of Moccasin Lake Park discussed the purpose of the board of directors – to get people interested in the park and hopefully to begin hosting school groups. The board would really like to have a representative from the Safety Harbor Garden Club to attend their monthly meetings. They meet on the third Wednesday at 6:30 at Moccasin Lake.


Treasurer’s Report: Last month’s balance was $2683.13. $51.00 was deposited from the Moccasin Lake Plant Sale will go into the holding fund to be presented at the end of the year. $38SAFETY .00 was collected in membership dues. $50.00 was paid to Gary Sawtell for the teepee at the Mullet Creek Park Butterfly Garden.


Caladium Festival Bus Trip: The Rare Plant Society is hosting a bus trip on July 26th. This is a full day trip leaving Pinellas Park at 6:30 a.m. Cost is $30.00 for members and $40.00 for guests.


Christmas Party: Judy Zaccaria, Jennifer Rothe, Carol Zieres, Linda Howard and Patty Holmans are on the planning committee. A report will be given at the July membership meeting.

Air Potatoes: Gisela Bennie reported that she has released 9 batches of beetles to combat the air potatoes. She also asked for 3 to 5 volunteers to help weed the Safety Harbor Garden Club butterfly gardens at Mullet Creek Park. 

Bromeliads: Sally Uhler offered bromeliads that are growing on her property.
Seed Packets: Sandy Huff reported that seeds have been bagged and are available to members at meetings. Most are butterfly plants. 

Safety Harbor Third Friday: Robin suggested the SHGC host a booth at the Third Friday celebrations. She will find out more details and report at the next membership meeting.

Moccasin Lake Nature Park Presentation: Lloyd Simmons gave a virtual tour of the park. The park began in 1982. A million dollar renovation was just completed. Twelve different groups meet at the park. New signage for the park will be coming soon.
After the meeting was adjourned, Lloyd conducted a walking tour of the park for those that were interested.
