SAFETY HARBOR GARDEN CLUB
Membership Meeting
August 21, 2019
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m.
Sharen thanked everyone who brought something for the hospitality table. She welcomed five guests and our new member Angela.
Treasurer’s Report: Pat Gilliland gave the treasurer’s report. The July balance was $2, 762.13. $20.00 was received from membership. $40.00 was given to our July speaker leaving a balance of $2,742.13.
Membership: No report for this meeting. 
Holiday Party: Linda Howard reported that the holiday luncheon will be held on Wednesday, December 11 from 11:30-2:00 at the Moccasin Lake Meeting Room. The committee will cater the event. The cost for guests will be $5.00. They must be accompanied by a Safety Harbor Garden Club member. Invitations will be distributed at the September Membership Meeting. An invitation by email will also be sent to members.
Safety Harbor Garden Club Plant Sale: Leslie Zambito will chair the plant sale to be held in December. Sharen is co-chair. Gary Sawtell will help. The theme this year will be Pollinators and Butterfly Plants.  A work day will be held on the first Sunday in October (October 6, 2019) at Sandy Huff’s to make room for the plants for the sale. Succulents in tea cups are a popular item. Elsa Soto will accept any tea cups and succulents  and prepare them for planting. 
Nominating Committee: Sharen reported that a nominating committee needs to be formed to seek volunteers to fill board positions for the coming year. The positions of president, 1st vice-president and two treasurers will need to be filled. 
September Program: Leslie Zambito will give a presentation on Container Vegetable Gardening. Tomato, pepper and eggplant seeds need to be started now for fall planting.
Program: Sharen introduced Kay Waldron from the Bonsai Society. Kay gave a presentation on the history and horticulture of Bonsai.
