MARCH 2023 GARDEN AWARD
Lara and Glenn Shane moved their family home to Safety Harbor nearly eight years ago, but Safety Harbor has always been a part of their lives. Glenn proposed to Lara in Philippe Park and they got married at the S.H. Spa 25 years ago. Their son attended S.H. Montessori for 12 years. All their yard art came from local artists, S.H. Main Street and vendors of local festivals. Lara is also an active volunteer in our town.
Lara and Glenn have created their own yard and keep it up beautifully. They recently decided to add some pollinator plants to assist with our city’s and the Garden Club’s effort to attract more butterflies and beneficial insects.
OCTOBER 2022 GARDEN AWARD
Our Garden Club’s current recipient of the Garden Award is Suzanne B. Her beautiful, colorful place is an historic Safety Harbor home, located at 200 4th Avenue N. The lovely house was built in 1923. Suzanne has lived there since 1994. She keeps her house surrounded by colorful blooming plants, taking after her mother, she told me, who at 90 years old still maintains a butterfly garden at her senior community in Syracuse, N.Y. And Suzanne’s daughter in Jacksonville, Fl also keeps a flower garden, complete with a water fall. Our award goes to all three of them!
JUNE 2022 GARDEN AWARD
This proud homeowner has enjoyed living in quaint Safety Harbor for 17 years … the past 12 years in this little gem at
348 Second Street South. Older than the city of Safety Harbor, this 1910 cottage now has a colorful display of trees, blooming
bushes and flowers that enhance its charming appeal. “
MARCH 2022 GARDEN AWARD
This month’s recipient of Safety Harbor Garden Club Award:
The ‘Garden of the Month’ goes to Carol Janocha, at
2632 Enterprise Road East. Carol’s large front yard is well-designed
by her and kept meticulously, also by her. It looks pristine and inviting,
showing a variety of beautiful plants, bushes and old trees.
Her husband built the house himself in 1972, fifty years ago, and they
were the FIRST SETTLERS ON ENTERPRISE which then was a gravel road.

JANUARY 2022 GARDEN AWARD

Amy and Jeff have lived in this lovely home in Safety Harbor for about 5 years now. They recently finished “re-vamping” their house and gardens, including a generous driveway and parking area. The front yard was artfully and lovingly designed and planted by Amy herself.
Amy said they love living in Safety Harbor and are proud to show off what they have done to beautify their home and the neighborhood.

September 2021 Garden Award
The Safety Harbor Garden Club’s latest winner of the Garden Award is Harvey Huber. The winning garden is located at 2621 Brandywine Street, off Landmark, between 580 and Enterprise Road, at the edge of S.H.. Mr. Huber created this unusual front yard many years ago, and he and his partner Carol have groomed it for many years. The week we gave them the Award, Mr. Huber celebrated his 97th birthday and got a lot of attention from the community.
We thank Harvey and Carol and wish them more years of good health and happy gardening.”
